Aura + Ambxst — Powerful Dev Tools meets Beautiful Aesthetics

Aura is a custom Arch Linux-based distribution built to integrate seamlessly with the Ambxst Quickshell environment. It combines a pre-configured Hyprland desktop with a comprehensive suite of development tools.

Aura was Originally forked from Omarchy, Aura has been completely revamped to balance high-performance workflow capabilities with the striking aesthetics of the Ambxst setup.

What Aura Does

Aura does all the hard work for you. No messing with archinstall. Boot the ISO, follow the wizard, and you're dropped into a fully working desktop.

It supports multiple shells including Ambxst, Caelestia, illogical-impulse (end-4), and more.

What is Ambxst?

Ambxst is an extremely customizable Quickshell-based desktop environment created by Axenide. It provides a modern, beautiful interface including:

  • App launcher and clipboard manager
  • Wallpaper manager and theme system
  • Notification system and media controls
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and audio mixer
  • Screen capture, recording, and color picker
  • OCR, QR/barcode scanner, and webcam "mirror"
  • Night mode, game mode, and power profile manager
  • AI assistant, weather, and calendar
  • Multi-monitor support and customizable keybindings
  • Support for multiple Hyprland layouts (dwindle, master, scrolling)

Installation

  1. Boot from the ISO
  2. Aura installer launches automatically
  3. Follow the wizard — language, timezone, disk, user account
  4. Reboot and login
  5. First-boot script walks you through Ambxst installation
